Together with The Tartan Blanket Co., we want to encourage 1,000 hours of volunteering for charities this autumn/winter, sign up to our Share Warmth-a-thon to give time back to charities!
We’ve always loved The Tartan Blanket Co.’s ethos of warmth and kindness: they donate 1% of their profits to charities that support people, and 1% to charities that support the planet. They’re a company that insists on ethical business practice, from supply chain through to retail, and their founder and Company Director Emma Macdonald told us in our podcast about how it’s about more than just blankets. It’s about sharing the warmth with others and doing the right thing for your team, customers, and wider community.
At Social Good Connect we have a pretty similar ethos.. As connectors for good, we’re all about spreading that warm, fuzzy feeling that comes from doing something kind for others. So we got to thinking, what could we do together to share warmth? And thus the Share Warmth-a-thon was born!
To help us reach our goal of 1,000 volunteer hours pledged by the end of the year go to our registration page and fill out the short form. We’ll ask a few questions about your skills, preferences, and how many hours you’ll give. Leave the rest to us, and we’ll use our magic to match you up with a volunteering opportunity with one of our charity partners. The campaign is open to anyone over the age of 18.
If you’re already volunteering, you can still get involved! Simply fill out the form and pledge the hours you’d normally volunteer for the period until 31st December and put ‘I’ll arrange my own’ when we ask if you’d like us to find an opportunity for you. For everyone who pledges, they’ll receive a special thank you discount.

Sign-ups are open until Monday 18th October. But, you can complete your volunteering any time until 31 December. We want to collect pledges by the 18th so that we can make sure everyone is matched to an opportunity based on their preferences and skills.
Some of our ongoing roles may require vetting (i.e. PVG checks) by the charity – so this leaves plenty of time for this to happen.
We’ve got a variety of opportunities, both virtual and in person. Some of the more common ones are: social media, web development, fundraising, creative brainstorming & strategy, befriending, design, tutoring, HR advice, finance advice and so much more!.
There’s also opportunities for delivery drivers, walking companions, packing food donations, events volunteering and more! Once you’ve been matched, we’ll contact you to find out if you’d like to go ahead with the opportunity before we put you in touch with the charity.
We’ll get back in touch after the campaign to ask how your experience went and how many hours you volunteered in the end. So remember to keep a note, or use the tracker in the volunteer pack.
We’d also love to see pictures of your experience – whether it’s a laptop selfie or one of you out-and-about. Just remember to ask appropriate permission first before taking photos of others.
