We are on a mission to create a value of £100m+ in social impact through volunteering hours and community funding. Will you join us?
Our CEO and Founder, Caroline McKenna, built Social Good Connect as a result of a growing need for closer collaboration between the private, public, and third sectors.
In her previous charity roles, and as a social good consultant, she often heard businesses say: ‘we want to help, we want to make an impact – but we don’t know how!’
At the same time, she saw how much time and effort goes into attracting, finding, and recruiting volunteers who are a lifeline for non-profits.
The idea to make it easy for employers to enable their employees to find volunteering opportunities was sparked…
In March 2020, we were working steadily alongside our technology partners, Vidatec, to launch our digital platform in Q4 2020, when the crisis hit.
We realised that if we could get a basic version of our platform ready several months ahead of schedule, we were ideally placed to support furloughed staff and struggling communities.
We accelerated our platform build and launched six months early on 21 May 2020!
Over the course of the crisis, our volunteers have been busy! Employees from all types of company and all walks of life have stepped up and through a range of volunteering placements, they have supported vulnerable children, older people, people experiencing homelessness, and many more.
What now and where next?
By December 2020 we have over 100 businesses and charities on board, and it’s growing every week as more businesses realise the value of closer connections with (and bespoke volunteering matches for) the community.
Volunteer recruitment continues to be a constant, time-consuming struggle for non-profits, and the positive mental and professional impact of employee volunteering is often overlooked. We exist to help charities find skilled volunteers more easily, to help people see volunteering differently and to promote the difference volunteering through your employer can make.
We’ve come a long way since our initial launch and continue to learn from our mistakes, grow, and develop. We are so excited about the future. Bring on 2021!
