What is your role in the team?
My role is the Marketing and Communications Executive. I plan out marketing strategies for the year and create content for existing customers.
What do you enjoy most about the work that you do?
I love the creativity of it – writing blogs, thinking of new ideas, trying new things, and working for a company that is having such a positive impact on the community.
What volunteering or passion projects do you do outside of work?
I run my own blog! I have always wanted to be a writer, and I love that I can write about whatever I like on my blog.
In terms of volunteering, I have recently applied through the Social Good Connect platform to volunteer with the Royal Voluntary Service to support vulnerable older people in my community and I’m really looking forward to getting started!
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working/what are your hobbies?
I love to read! I even run a bookclub alongside my blog which is such a fun way to bring bookworms together over our shared passion for reading.
I also love travelling, I did a year abroad in Spain when I was at uni which was amazing, and where I fell in love with solo travel. I have also been enjoying getting to know Scotland a little better in the past few months.
Which of Social Good Connect’s values resonated most with you and why?
Being Brave – my mum has always encouraged me to try new things and to step out of my comfort zone, I think it’s good to do stuff that scares you sometimes. That way, your comfort zone gets gradually bigger and bigger. I love that being brave is encouraged at Social Good Connect, we are always focused on making the biggest impact for the community so everyday when I am heading to work, I know I am doing something good.
What is your favourite song?
I saw them live with my boyfriend and it was the best concert I have ever seen – I have such good memories of it!
Who are the top three people you would have a meal with dead or alive?
Philip Pullman, Jon Ronson and Taika Waititi.
Philip Pullman wrote my favourite children’s books, the His Dark Materials trilogy, which I went on to write my dissertation about at university. I would love to pick his brains about them! Jon Ronson is another brilliant writer who has met some fascinating people, I bet he has some great dinner party anecdotes. Finally, Taika Waititi is my favourite director, his movie, Boy, made a huge impression on me at a young age and I must have re–watched it a hundred times since. He always manages to strike the perfect balance between poignant and funny and I imagine he would make a great dinner party guest!
Can you share your favourite photo with us and explain why it is your favourite?
This is my favourite picture of myself because it was taken on the first day of my year abroad as I was exploring my new home, the tiny town of Tomelloso in Castilla la Mancha, the least touristy place in Spain! Living in Spain has been something I have wanted to do since I was very young and that year in Tomelloso was probably one of the best experiences of my life so far – I am planning to go back and visit as soon as I can!
