What is your role in the team?
My role at Social Good Connect is to provide research and support for the sales team. I primarily search for businesses with a positive company ethos and look for partnership opportunities.
What do you enjoy most about the work that you do?
What I enjoy most is discovering how many businesses out there do really want to make a difference in the world with the work they do. I have realised that there are so many companies who look for ways to support their communities and take care of their work force. It is so uplifting to find and see that much positivity.
What volunteering or passion projects do you do outside of work?
During lockdown, I volunteered to help older people in my area who needed help and gave them any support I could offer. I delivered fruit and vegetable boxes within my community for people who were shielding and things like that. It was nice to have a wee distanced chat, especially when I was the only person some of my neighbours might have seen all day or all week. They told me that it helped to break up their days and gave them something to look forward to. I really enjoyed it and found that it helped to keep me going too. Knowing I was making a difference AND enjoying it at the same time had such a positive effect on me!
In the future, I would love to volunteer with animal shelters as I love animals but don’t have any pets.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working/what are your hobbies?
The thing that keeps me most busy is caring for my young son – he is very active and intelligent, so he keeps me on my toes!
I also enjoying swimming and walking, and I even took up running during lockdown which has been great. I’m still new to it but it’s a brilliant way to get outdoors!
I love to travel and explore different cultures too. Not that we have been able to do much of that recently!
Which of Social Good Connect’s values has resonated most with you and why?
Connecting People – life can be quite lonely sometimes and helping people through that by using skills to deliver positive impact is a wonderful thing to be a part of.
What is your favourite song?
So many songs have come and gone through the years but one that always makes me smile is Young Hearts Run Free by Candi Staton – it reminds me of my mum.
Who are the top three people you would have a meal with dead or alive?
My mum, my Nan and my sister, because I would love for us to be able to be in a room together one more time.
Can you share your favourite photo with us and explain why it is your favourite?
This picture was taken when I was visiting the Caribbean. I worked on a ships for 10 years so I always feel at peace by the sea. This was taken on a day spent with friends that holds such special memories for me!
